survivor - Jared Leary

Hello fellow soldiers

My name is Jared

Im a Able seaman in the Royal Canadian, Navy, my brother "hotrodthug" has already posted, I still haven't fon him yet thogh I wil soon...I hope. My first experience happened just off the shore of Madagascar We came across a 60 foot trawler ,deadin the water, we tried hailingher dozens of tiems no response. The C.O. (a good man god rest his soul) gave the order for the boarding party to be dispatched. At this point we never even heard anything from Ottawa we didnt know what was going on. I was third man off the line when we hit the rolling deck.

We took up standard defensive posiotns. At all times (during a boardign anyway) RCN boarding party members carry an Hechler and Koch Mp-5 J navy model SMG, a Sig P225 9mm pistol, A remington 870 pump action shotgun with folding stock. additionally we carry a viper brand ASP baton, and an Emerson CQC-6 combat knive. We fanned out in two man group the boat was dark adn foolishly we used flashlights to break teh din.

We searched all of the topside and found her to be empty. We regrouped and decided to open the cargo hold before heading below deck. She had two large hydraulicaly operated fishing doors. We crakced emopen adn inside what i saw made me retch. In the hold sat at least 12 bodies all dismembered and each with a neat holle right between the eyes. It was about this time we heard a moan below deck. I covered the nearest door, whle my partner ripped it open. A surge of black faces came out at me. All  covered in dried blood. They swarmed my partner adn ripped him apart, god there were dozens of them. I stupidly dumped the first mag into their midst. I got one lucky head shot for 30 rounds. I retreated as did with the rest of the squad. I told them what we were up against. They stared at me in disbeleif. When they saw the fresh smoking wounds in the zombies heart and lungs they started to listen to what i had to say.

WE backed up about 10 yards and started taking single shots. The hull must've been full of em they never stopped coming. We retreated to the dingy and raced back to the ship. The captian watched the whole thing and he launched a Mark 84 torpedo. It was erie watching her go to the bottom. The combination of shreiking metal and moaning zombies sent shivers down my spine. the next three weeks we did that all over agian. I personally would have liked to sink any rotten sloop we came across but we had to make sure there were no live ones on board. We finally made it back to Halifax. I was so relived to be in native waters agian. there is something about the ocean up there that just grabs the attention of a young mountain hick like me. When we hit port there was no fan fare, no bustling harbour just and endless line of ghouls lining the shore. My heart sank. My beloved country had been taken over. so i thought anyway. We pulled back to about 5 miles off shore. 2 days later my ship the HMCS Toronto was joined by the HMCS Villes du Quebec, Algonquin, Cartier and John A MacDonald. the captians conferred they decided that we were going ashore, we had almost run out of supplies as we had been at sea for 5 1/2 months before hand. though we had plenty of ammunition. They decided we were gonna unload all ordanence on the shore line to clear out any ghouls we could. YOur average canadian class 2 frigate has on board, 8 M2 browning .50 heavy machine guns. One massive 57mm auto loading cannon, 1 or 2 Phanlax 20mm electric powered Gatling guns. we waited til dawn on the 27 th of october. at exactly 530 am all 5 ships pulled up single file and absolutely pounded the shore line. I was lookin through binoculars if youve never seen the effect of a 20mm cannon shell on a human body its similiar to throwing a water baloon against a wall of flaming nails. They pop nothing left of them. The dawn sky was filled with noise adn power. the intermitent lines 50 shells, punctuated by the glowing 57mm and all set to the constant ripping roar of those gatling guns. after 32 hours of constant bombarment we finally ran out of ordanence we even fired the Sparow anti aircraft missles as weak as they were. once it was all said and done we came ashore. We found a writhing mas of screaming moaning zombies. The captian disbanded the crew and told us to find our families and be safe. that was an emotional day we all respected the captain and to no longer be on the same ship together was very very sad day. me and two guys1st Sgt matt Lemna and 2nd private Erc Makivirta (a couple of army grunts and old freinds of  mine who met me here after we flattened Hlaifax. We requisitioned a a army silverado adn loaded it down with food, fuel, ammo, 6 tires adn plenty of spare parts. We now have about 800 miles of canandian highway to cross to make it to the cabin i mentioned earlier. So now i must leave the old laptop and concentreat on cleaning my C7 and keeping an eye on the road so til next tiem stay alert adn keep your rifle close.
